As your child earns badges during their time at scouts you (or they, or better, Grandma) will need\u00a0to sew them onto their scout shirt. The badges need to be sewn on in specific places on the shirt\u00a0so Scouting NZ has provided this helpful diagram:<\/p>\n

Personal Challenge badges are badges that youth members earn as part of the programme or\u00a0independently e.g. Healthy Kea, or Cyclist, or Hiker etc. etc. There are many different badges to\u00a0earn and you can find more information about Personal Challenge badges on each section's page.<\/p>\n

Jamboree on the Trail (JOTT) is one example of an Event badge. Event badges are placed on the\u00a0left hand sleeve under the Chartwell badge. Some special Event badges (e.g. National Mudslide)\u00a0are usually sewn directly onto your child's campfire blanket.\u00a0Section Membership Strip (also known as link badge) shows what sections your child has been a\u00a0member of e.g. Kea, Cub or Scout.<\/p>\n

The Section badge shows what section your child is currently a member of e.g. Kea, Cub, Scout,\u00a0Venturer.<\/em><\/p>\n

When your child moves up a section all the Personal Interest and Award badges are removed from\u00a0the shirt along with the old section badge (Kea\/Cub\/Scout). These can then be sewn onto their\u00a0campfire blanket. The Section Membership Strip, Chartwell and Zone badges are left on the shirt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
