If you are interested in coming along to find out if Scouting is for you please look around this website first. Here are some handy starting points:

Then contact the membership officer at chartwell@group.scouts.nz.  You will usually fill in an enrolment form at this time which has child and family contact details. We will provide you information about various Scouting NZ policies.

At times, we have a waiting list for some sections. When space becomes available in the section you will be contacted by the leader and can organise a time to come along for a trial period of three weeks. To be invested into a section your child needs to complete the requirements for a section badge.

For example to be invested as a Kea Scout, your child needs to do the Kea section badge. The section badges are very straight forward and involve activities such as hearing about the history of scouting, and learning the Kea/Cub/Scout promise. Leaders will make sure that all the activities for the section badge are covered as part of the normal programme.

An investiture ceremony is then held where your child promises to follow the Scout Law, and is presented with their scarf, woggle, and group/zone badges. Hopefully by this time you will have sourced a uniform shirt. Check with your leader as there are often second hand ones available.

More detailed information about the Chartwell Scout Group uniform can be found on the uniform page. Once your child is invested they can go on to work at Personal Challenge badges, progress towards their Award badges and generally have a great time being a Scout.
